Back at it again…
So after my 3-year writing hiatus I am once again feeling that urge to write, though who would’ve thought a terrible movie would’ve brought me out of my self-induced hermitage. I’ll not mention the movie (because I’m not a hater), but the general jist is it’s about Asian American guys and our lack of skillz in all things women. So once again, it’s that time-old retread of the same stereotypes. There are as follows:
1. White guys get all the Asian girls - (seriously can’t they think of something besides this, I mean I highly doubt white guys have full conversations about them losing white girls to asian guys).
2. Asian guys are passive - Um..duh. Seriously this is like pouring salt in every Asian guy’s most deepest of cuts. Keep in mind a lot of guys are passive not just ones with the last name Kim or Lee.
So there you have it, the general two themes of the movie that they continue to hammer at you time and time again till you just can’t take it anymore. That’s basically why I’m writing now, my roommate (who I was watching the movie with) has challenged me to write my own script based upon Asian American culture. At first it was a joke, but then as time wore on (and the movie got worse) I decided to take a stab at it. I for one know that my writing can’t be any worse than what I just brain consumed for the past 2 hours. Yeah, I watched it for that long, it was kind of like a car accident you just couldn’t help but watch.
So here goes, my attempt at a novel/script, I for one hope it doesn’t suck. Feel free to leave comments on the passages to come…
Thx,
